E-Mail Traffic

(this section added 21 August 2008)

The week following the 11 August 2008 Council meeting was a fascinating one in terms of events and e-mail traffic between Council members, the Mayor and some borough officials. Because these directly relate to Council and borough business, you the residents have a right to know what's in them.

Until now this sort of thing was completely hidden from the public. As long as I am in office that will no longer be the case. Any e-mails I receive that are directly related to Council business and which go to most or all Council members (other than the routine traffic from the Borough Clerk about Council meetings, containing the agendas, resolutions, minutes, etc., which information I post upon receipt anyway) are subject to being posted, unless they are in some other way not suitable for posting. If I believe e-mails pertaining to a private session matter relate to HOW the Council or Borough is conducting business, the private session specifics will be redacted and the e-mail will be posted. I will not post e-mails relating to Public Works, Board of Health, Licensing and what-not, as those things usually become part of my monthly Council reports, which are posted on this website as well. E-mails regarding the newsletter may be posted if I believe the contents warrant posting. These are in no way "approved" by anyone for publication (except me).

My commentary and explanation will be in green text.

Please note that it is not my intent to embarrass, impugn or humiliate anyone in any way. But the e-mails are what they are. I will not edit them in any way except to remove e-mail addresses to inhibit spam webbots and protect address privacy, and to remove excess space between lines.

Please send me any feedback you may have on this new section, at Mark@MABrunton.com.
