Leaf Pickup, The December 2009 Snowstorm, and My Resignation as Director of the Department of Public Works
(this section added 1 January 2010)
This past fall and early winter were difficult for leaf collection and for snow removal. Most of our available leaf collection days were rainy or followed rainy days, rendering our leaf machine useless. The 22 inches of snow on December 19 and 20 dumped more snow than our department could handle effectively (as was the case for most other Public Works departments in the region).
I've included summary accounts of the past few months in the links on this page.
First up is a write-up of the leaf pickup problems. In a few days you'll find a write-up of the December 19/20 snowstorm.
