Mr. Bob Disch:

    1.    Cigarette butt holders are frozen with ice

                Mr. Brunton will ask Public Works to look at them

    2.    Regarding Mayor North's letter of political affiliation change -

                 Mr.Disch takes exception to the assertions and assumptions in the letter.

                 Leaving it at that.

Ms. Wanda Rotan:

    1.    "Trend" free newspaper being left on sidewalks -

                - at her request, stopped delivering to the front of her house, but it still gets left on the side of her house.

                - Don't need this newspaper; can delivery of it be stopped?

            Mayor North: Can Fred Kohler look into it? Maybe we can Make some changes.

            Councilor Alloway: We can't do anything about it.

            Solicitor Higgins: Freedom of press issue.

 

    2.    Regarding firewood ordinance introduction:

                Asked about proper time to comment. Was told that before adoption is the appropriate time.

Thank you for concern at Hobie's passing last year.

A. AGREEMENTS -Have been arriving from Professionals  (Available in Clerk's office)

Ms. Fields:

    Personnel

        Will be discussing personnel manual later in meeting

    EMS report - 2008 Summary - 355 Calls; 52% handled by Merchantville, 44% by Pennsauken, 4% by others

        1 January 2009 Pennsauken took over EMS. Ms/. Fields will meet with Pennsauken EMS monthly. Equipment is being turned in by Merchantville EMS members. The building is locked.

    Planning Board - First 2009 meeting is tomorrow (13 January)

    Code Enforcement

        174 Prospect is a possible Abandoned Property

         606 W Maple has been cited again

    Neighborhood Preservation Program - no report

    Public Events -

        Meeting 1/28/09

    Newsletter is coming out this week

    Shade Tree Commission -

        50 trees are coming late February / early March. They need to be planted immediately - volunteers will be needed.

    Historical Planning Commission -

        Reorganization meeting was last week - it is ready to go.

    Department of Health - got department stuff from Councilor Brunton

    Community Development Block Grant - Looking for money for

        Senior Citizen Transportation

        ADA work (street corners and sidewalks)

        will be collective with 2008 & 2009

        Also to redo bathrooms at community center

    Buildings & Grounds

        Community center -

            redo bathrooms (with CDBG)

        Borough Hall -

            Rear driveway work

            Approved new T-Mobile box

                Provides $150 / month income to borough

            Ready to proceed with windows - waiting for them to arrive

            Also looking at furniture & floors

        Fire Department -

            Washing machine to be installed

    Public Works - Registration to be done for all vehicles

    NJEIT Grant - to reline all sewers

Mayor North acknowledged and accepted my appearance of conflict of interest letter regarding me serving as liaison to Pennsauken Sewerage Authority. He concurred with my analysis of the situation, and he will act as liaison for the time being. [Note: I received this letter from Mayor North regarding the issue as well. - MAB]

A. APPROVAL Personal Manual and Holiday Schedule (Will be Resolutions R09-27 and R09-28. There was a long discussion concerning the borough Holiday schedule.)

Ordinances for introduction on first reading. These ordinances will be considered for adoption at the public hearing to be held during the January 26 council meeting. (Introduction approved by Roll Call vote - 6-0.)
