Subject: sand volleyball court
Hi
Denise,
Thank you for your time on Friday. You were very helpful in
explaining the process.
I'm part of an informal volleyball club that
has been playing together for over 10 years. We're extremely passionate
about beach volleyball and recently lost our court to redevelopment. We're
not a league, just a group of guys who get together 2 to 3 times each week
to play the game we love for a few hours. We're basically a beach volleyball
version of a book club.
Your town has a sand volleyball court (near
Somerset Ave. and Prospect
St.) where we have played a handful of times
over the past year. While it's in a great location, the court could use a
renovation. It has the potential to be a truly beautiful place to play for
the community.
My volleyball group would like to adopt your sand
court. We own and would donate a professional net system and boundary lines.
The existing poles are fine, but we would raise the hooks when installing
the new system bringing the net to regulation height (8 feet as per FIVB and
AVP rules).
The court needs additional sand to raise the quality of
the playing surface and more closely mimic the feel of a natural beach. An
additional
6 inches of beach sand (approximately 125 tons) would cost
around $3,800 delivered. Not only would our club donate some money towards
the purchase of the sand, we would be willing to donate our time to spread
it all, saving the town any additional expenses in labor.
Thank you
very much for your attention to this matter. I look forward to hearing from
you.
