Dear Merchantville Residents,
It has been my honor and pleasure to have served you as a member of Borough Council for the past three years. They have been a very educational three years, to be sure.
I served with some very conscientious and dedicated individuals, who have given freely of their time for the betterment of our community. I hope I fell into that category as well, but you will have be the judge of that.
As many of you know, I began a run for mayor in early 2009, in opposition to incumbent mayor Frank North. I was looking forward to a spirited and tough campaign, but personal circumstances intervened and cut short my run. Essentially, my current job was dissolved (the position itself was eliminated), and I was asked to work temporarily in Charleston, South Carolina. Later I was offered a promotion if I would accept a permanent position in Charleston. With no certain employment at my old job site, and considering the promotion included in the job offer, I could not refuse.
My time as one of your representatives on the governing body of Merchantville will always be one of the high points of my life. I was, and am, both humbled and grateful for the trust you placed in me.
I hope for the best for each of you individually, and for the borough as a whole. Major decisions are coming up that will decide the fate of the borough as an independent political entity; may Providence provide the wisdom to choose the best path forward.
